BEYONCE IS NOT A FAN OF YOUR FEYONCE SHIRTS
Texas based company, Feyonce Inc. is being sued by Beyonce over their popular "Feyonce" merchandise, which includes everything from hoodies to coffee mugs. The singer's suit alleges the company's products infringe on her copyrighted name. The suit further alleges that the company has ignored several requests to stop selling the products, that they cause confusion among consumers and as a result the singer has suffered irreparable harm.
The lawsuit points out one item, a coffee mug with the phrase "Feyonce: He put a ring on it" claiming that the mug was designed to invoke Beyonce's song, Single Ladies. Beyonce's lawyers claim "Defendants' conduct described herein is intentional, fraudulent, malicious, willful and wanton." The suit also alleges that one defendant, Andre Maurice, tried to trademark "Feyoncé" twice, both with and without the accent over the "e."
Feyonce Inc. is not the only company marketing "Feyonce" branded merchandise. Last year, Beyonce's lawyers reported a seller to Etsy for selling "Feyonce" mugs. The seller's items were since removed; however, other "Feyonce" items are still being sold.
